About us

At the institute of health and care sciences, teachers, researchers and administrators work with healthcare-related education, postgraduate education, research and collaboration. We are home to students in nursing, midwifery diagnostic radiography nursing, specialist nursing, doctoral candidates and researchers in health and care sciences.

The institute's vision is to maintain a high quality in education, research and clinical practice in health care science. We offer educational programmes and courses at all levels including a postgraduate programme leading to a doctorate in care sciences. Skills development and practical training is another important part of the institute's mission and we collaborate with many stakeholders in the surrounding society. In our research as well as our teaching, we have a strong profile towards person-centered care, which is our most important area of strength.

Complete academic environments

At the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, we strive to  achieve complete academic environments. The objective is to facilitate an ongoing interaction between research, education and collaboration. Thus,  good conditions for a dynamic and fruitful environment can be created.

Complete academic environments attract talented researchers, teachers, administrators and students, creating better conditions for enhanced research, higher quality in education and greater effects in society.

The basis for complete academic environments is the interaction between research, education and collaboration. This means that all education - regardless of level - is research related and research must be intertwined in education. This gives students a natural connection an insight in research. The environment should also contribute to cross-border research and education and is characterized by collaboration with public and private care givers in society. The  cooperation with the surrounding society  means that new ideas can be disseminated in a wider circle. It enables a flow of new knowledge, which strengthens and also provides opportunities for continuous development of the quality of our work. .
