Ethics and Value Challenges in Antibiotic Resistance Management, Research and Policy

Symposium 15-16 November

Main auditorium, Vasaparken, University of Gothenburg

The World Health Organization, WHO, identifies drug resistance as a global challenge threatening human health and the fundamental achievements of modern medicine. Ethics and value conflicts are at the centre of this challenge: both regarding slowing down resistance development and addressing problems due to resistance. These issues arise on all levels, from day-to-day health care to global politics. This symposium is open to all interested in these issues, and presents internationally leading experts in the area from Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, and the USA.
Participation is free of charge, but requires pre-registration, as places are limited. Deadline for registration is October 20. More information and an electronic registration form is available here:
The symposium is organised by the Deaprtment of philosophy, linguistics and theory of science,, in collaboration with the Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research, CARe, formed in 2016 and conducting research and education across six faculties, as well as engagement with agencies, industry and the general public.
