Study Programmes

The following study programmes are available at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences:
 

• Nursing (First Cycle)

• Diagnostic Radiology Nursing (First Cycle)

• Specialist Nursing, in eleven different areas, (Second Cycle)

• Midwifery Science (Second Cycle)

• Master in Midwifery Science (Second Cycle)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

180 higher education credits - Taught in Swedish

The programme leads to an academic professional degree, and forms the basis for authorisation to work as a nurse. The programme also aims to provide a general first-cycle degree and to prepare students for continued education at second- and third-cycle levels.
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
The programme also provides the basis for a general degree at bachelor’s level.

Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiology Nursing

180 higher education credits - Taught in Swedish

The programme leads to an academic professional degree, and forms the basis for authorisation to work as a radiology nurse. The programme also aims to provide a general first-cycle degree and to prepare students for continued education at second- and third-cycle levels.
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiology Nursing. 
The programme also provides the basis for a general degree at bachelor’s level.

Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing

60/75 higher education credits - Taught in Swedish

A Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing with a defined specialisation is awarded after the student has completed the courses required to gain 60 credits, with the exception of the specialisation in Primary Health Care when the diploma is awarded after the student has completed the courses required to gain 75 credits. In addition the student shall have been registered by Socialstyrelsen [Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare] as a nurse.
Degree: Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing.
The programme also provides the basis for a general master’s degree.

Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery Science/
Reproductive and Perinatal health

90 higher education credits - Taught in Swedish

The programme in Midwifery Science leads to an academic professional degree och forms the basis for authorisation to work as a midwife. The programme also leads to a second-cycle general degree (Master one-year) in Midwifery Science), and prepares for continued education at third-cycle (research) level.
Degree: Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery Science.
The programme also provides the basis for a general master's degree.

Master Program in Midwifery Science/
Reproductive and Perinatal health

120 higher education credits - Taught in Swedish

Are you interested in promoting health, develop care and research and development projects within the midwife's business? Then this is the program for you. The program is the first in Sweden that provides both academic training as a midwife and a full Master in reproductive and perinatal health.
The first three semesters of the program follows courses included in the 90 higher education credits Midwifery program.

The local profile of the program emphasizes that childbirth is a normal life event and on the midwife's supportive and restorative work with and for the women and the family. The program is an optimal basis for further study at the graduate level.

The midwife works for life and sexual, reproductive and perinatal health in a life cycle perspective: with women of different ages, including planning of pregnancy, pregnancy, childbirth, parenthood and newborns. This includes health promotive, preventive and treating work.
Degree: Master of Science in Midwifery.
