About Carina Sparud Lundin

Carina is a lecturer with specialization in nursing, and associate professor in health sciences. She became registered nurse in 1985 and specialist pediatric nurse in 1992. Carina has worked at the University since 2001, she defended her doctoral thesis in 2008 and has held assignments as a section manager at the department during 2010-2015.

Research
Carina's research focuses transitions in daily life of people with chronic illness and their family and involved health care providers. Diabetes onset in children, the transition between child and adulthood when diabetes and congenital heart defects, as well as the childbearing period for women with Type 1 diabetes are such vulnerable transitions. Self-management and social support are important health scientific starting points in all projects as well as a desire to develop person-centered care for children and young people with long term illness. Carina is involved in several national and international research projects studying and / or evaluating various aspects of chronic illness in children/young people and their families.
