Welcome to the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, which is part of the Sahlgrenska Academy. We provide excellence in nursing education and research. Our graduates are well prepared for the ever changing needs of healthcare and the society's increasing demand for nurses and health care research. We educate nurses, midwives and radiographers in the first, second and third cycle of higher education. We also provide contract education for professionals.

Health and care research focuses on people's experiences and understanding of disease, illness and suffering. Both regarding recovery and in the preservation and promotion of health. Health and care sciences deal with both the biological body and socio-cultural structures. Knowledge translation and organization of healthcare are also central themes in health care research. At the University of Gothenburg, health and care sciences is profiled towards person-centered care in both research and education.

The Institute of health and care sciences is home to seven research groups and a research centre in person-centred care.
